This is a two year course of study with students entering in Year 10 and writing their board examinations in May/June of Year 11.
Students are streamed into two levels: Core (G to C) and Extended (E to A*). Students are assessed by writing two different papers, each with a different weighting to their overall IGCSE Math mark. Currently students are not assessed on their coursework.
Paper 1 (Core) or Paper 3 (Extended) is worth 35% and 1 hr or 1.5 hours in length respectively.
Paper 2 (Core) or Paper 4 (Extended) is worth 65% and 2 or 2.5 hrs in length respectively.
Both papers permit the use of an electronic non-graphing calculator, pen, pencil, ruler, compass, protractor and tracing paper.
