- Steps for Application
- Decide on a program of study; for example, Medicine, Business, Accounting, Engineering etc.
- Decide what country or countries you wish to study in. Narrow your choice down to one or two countries.
- Make a list of up to seven universities that you are interested in.
- Go to their website and see what the requirements are for this program. Check out:
- What the minimum IB score needed for application is
- What other documents are needed; for example: Personal Statement, Letters of reference, Admissions examination (UKCAT, SAT, TOFEL, etc)
- Make a note of important deadlines. Make sure you realize that application deadlines are sometimes a lot sooner than you think. For example, UK applications are due the October of your second IB year.
- Make plans to complete all needed testing and documentation. For example, if applying to the USA, you will need to write the SATs (standardized admissions test) and have your results send to the school’s you are applying to. This might not be offered at your school and it is up to you to revise, and register for the test.
- Check out the school’s website. Look at things like:
- Virtual tour of the campus
- School Fee’s
- Residence (where you would live your first year)
- What the surrounding city/town has to offer
- Look into scholarships, bursaries or other financial aid if needed.
